About

The SBA 504 Blog is written by John King, founder and principal of Green Commercial Capital.

At Green Commercial Capital, we help small and mid-sized business owners secure commercial mortgage financing, including loans through the SBA 504 and SBA 7a programs, along with other commercial loan solutions.

I write this blog to share practical, plain-English information about SBA loans and commercial real estate financing, drawing on real-world experience helping business owners – and would-be business owners – start, buy, refinance, or expand their businesses.

  • The SBA will guarantee an extra $2 million of your loan if you do an energy audit and put an action plan in place to reduce the building's energy use by 10%.

  • If I understand correctly, the SBA 504 90% guarantee is now a 75% guarantee. Is this correct and if so, do you have any idea how long it will remain at 75%? Is there a way to track the guarantee on a daily basis? (Can you tell I'm waiting for it to go back to 90%!)

    • It is up to our elected officials in Washington and so far they haven't gotten around to it. Some in the SBA lending industry feel it will be "re-upped" but others aren't so sure. You might try setting a Google Alert for it.
